Formalities and safety

All the information about formalities and safety instructions

Check-in

Check-in opens from 1.5 hours (for flights operated by ATR) to 2 hours (for flights operated by A319 and B737) before take-off.

Airport check-in closes 30 minutes before departure. (check-in deadline may be modified without notice)

Check-in to your final destination

Check-in to your final destination is possible (providing an agreement between the affected airlines). Please ask at check-in desk.

Online check-in

Online check-in is possible 24 hours to 60 minutes before departure by connecting to the airline's website. Passengers using this service may get their ticket, choose (or modify) their seat, check-in escorts and print their boarding cards.

When arriving at the airport passengers may proceed to the baggage drop off desk.

Hold baggage

Some advice before check-in

  • Remove all labels from previous trips.
  • Write your name and address inside and outside your luggage. You can write either your home address or your destination address, where you can easily be contacted. Labels are available from the information desk or from the check-in desk.
  • Do not transport highly valuable objects in your baggage.
  • Carefully package all fragile objects.
  • Keep your medicine treatments and your prescriptions with you.
  • Do not accept any luggage or parcels from fellow passengers, whatever the reason.
  • Do not leave your luggage unattended, even for a short time. They might get suspicious and might be destroyed.
  • Inform the airport staff of any unattended luggage or parcel.

Weight/Size limitation

Contact your airline for information on weight limits for hold baggage. Make sure that the total weight of your baggage does not exceed your allowance, which can be checked on your flight ticket. Limitations might vary from one airline to another: Be aware when connecting flights.

If you're luggage is overweight, you may be asked to pay extra fees.

Each piece of baggage must not weigh more than 32kg.

Your baggage must not exceed 300 centimeters (height+ length +width).

We strongly advise you to lock your baggage. You may feel more comfortable to carry a rigid suitcase with a keylock or a code.

Oversized baggage

Oversized baggage (bicycle, golf clubs, surf boards, musical instruments, …) will be checked-in at the same desk as your regular baggage. Nevertheless, their transport is subject to specific agreement from the airline and a fee may apply. You can get further information from your airline or from your travel agency.

Cardboard boxes and unusual wrapping

Your cardboard boxes and any unusual wrapping will be checked-in at the same desk as your regular luggage. Nevertheless, the transport of these particular items is subject to specific agreement from your airline and a fee may apply. Your airline will exceptionally accept an unusual wrapping.

The airline and the airport cannot be held responsible for any damage of a cardboard box which does not bear the normal resistance of a regular luggage.

Sports equipment

Sports equipment will be checked-in at the same desk as your regular baggage. Nevertheless, their transport is subject to specific agreement from the airline and a fee might be assessed. You may get further information from your airline or from your travel agency.

Hand luggage

Your hand luggage is essential as it will contain all the items necessary to your flight (medical treatments, toiletry or what you need for your baby).

Check-in and controls prior to boarding will be made easier and faster if you have carefully packed your hand luggage.

Weight / Size limitations

Your baggage must not exceed 115 centimeters (height+ length +width).

Weight limits vary according to destinations:

  • 5 kg to 10 kg (depending on the airline) for regional flights
  • 10 kg for long-haul flights

These limits are subject to changes depending on the airline's policy. Please check with your travel agent or your airline.

The following objects may be carried in the cabin of the aircraft:

  • Electronic devices such as telephone devices,  cell phones, notebook computers, CD player
  • Electronic devices such as hair dryer, portable radios
  • Nail clippers, nail files (metal or others)
  • Disposable razor, razor blade cartridge
  • Walking sticks
  • Umbrellas
  • Syringes and hypodermic needles such as needles for personnel use with their cover, provided that they are accompanied by the labeled medicine

The following objects are forbidden in the cabin:

  • Firearms, knives, scissors, cutters, straight razor etc.
  • Anti-assault bombs
  • Aerosols (perfumes, toiletries, medicine) containing more than 100 ml
  • Sharp weapons, cutting weapons, blunt weapons such as truncheons, clubs, sticks with nails sticking out
  • Every object that might be used as a weapon, piolets, hiking stick etc.
  • Every toy or object resembling one of the mentioned objects
  • According to the liquids regulations every liquids must not be in containers of more than 100 ml

In case of any doubt, put the relevant object in your hold baggage.

Exemptions:

  • Necessary prescriptions that you need during the flight (you will be required to show a medical prescription bearing your name)
  • Baby products and food if you are traveling with a toddler or with an infant:Use a container that can be sealed and resealed as you might be required to taste them during safety checking
  • Items bought from the tax free shop (sealed in the shop with the ticket visible)
  • Special food needed such as baby food and medical substances necessary for health are allowed. Passengers have to submit them in a separate bag to the security agent when crossing the security area. When transporting medicine, you will be required to show a medical prescription bearing your name.
  • All liquids bought beyond the security check area are authorized in the aircraft's cabin provided duty regulations are respected. When connecting flights, the sales person will put your purchase in a sealed bag.

Supervising of baggage

Do not leave your baggage unattended, even for a short time. They might get suspicious and might be destroyed. Inform the airport staff of any unattended luggage or parcel.

Do not accept a baggage or an object from fellow passengers.

Check of hold baggage

The check contains several steps

  • a security questionnaire at check-in (refer to the column <<Check-In>> to get further information)
  • The hold baggage is entirely checked by a radioscopic control machine, which is metal sensitive. If any doubt occurs concerning an item in a baggage, the passenger will be called in order to proceed to a manual checking of his baggage.

Baggage service

In case of loss, delayed or damaged baggage, we kindly ask you to contact the baggage service in the baggage claim area.

Make sure not to lose the baggage label which was given to you by the airport staff in the check-in area. In case of litigation you will be asked to provide it.
